Photovoltaics

Both partners in dbds make use of large-area photovoltaic plants on their production halls in order to cover as much as possible of the demand for power in the energy-intensive production facilities with electricity produced on site. However, due to the high quality production of the manufactured parts for the biogas sector, but also because of the tent constructions and halls and the event area with high-frequency welding machines, Seybold’s annual electricity consumption still reaches around 230,000 kWh. Thanks to the generation of around 110,000 kWh/year from the photovoltaic plant, with a peak performance of 114 kWp and an in-house usage rate of 80%, Seybold thus covers a large part of its power consumption itself, with a self-sufficiency rate of almost 40%. In addition, a lithium battery stores 70 kWh of electricity to benefit from power reserves at night. The only impediment to building an even larger photovoltaic plant was the local grid infrastructure.

dbds/Seybold & electric mobility

Combined with the photovoltaic plant and the electricity it produces in house, dbds and Seybold will be focussing increasingly on electric mobility in the future. There are already nine wall boxes installed at the two production sites in Düren-Gürzenich and Kreuzau-Stockheim to enable employees to charge electric vehicles free of charge.

In addition to three hybrid vehicles, Seybold TK has seven fully electric Smart Fourfour cars for private use by employees in the technical product manufacturing department.

dbds also currently uses three fully electric vehicles.
